Decent, hearty plain lunch: Restaurant Schützenstube (19. September 2017)
A simple and traditional restaurant is what the Restaurant Schützenstube is – you get, for a very decent price, a decent lunch menu. Today it started with a “vegetable soup” which was definitely lacking salt and pepper but was at least nicely thick and creamy.
The “perch filets served with almonds, sauce tartare and salted potatoes” (CHF 20.90) were fine in taste – just the overall dish was a bit small for my personal gusto. The interior of the restaurant is functional and traditional. Nothing extraordinary but you feel comfortable and booking a table in advance is advised but not needed.
The service is friendly but there is just one waitress for the whole restaurant which makes things quite slow when the restaurant fills up and all the tables are occupied. Overall, it is fine to have lunch here – don’t expect too much (as then you will be disappointed) but it is generally a sound overall experience for a somewhat quick lunch.
