A decent lunch ‘package’ in a regular atmosphere: Restaurant Farnsburg (20. September 2017)

| December 31, 2017 | 0 Comments

I recently end up quite regularly at the Restaurant Farnsburg and while I haven’t tried all of the restaurants in the surrounding area, I have had the chance to try a few. And somehow the Farnsburg really remains at the top of the recommendation list so far. It is not like you will experience anything extraordinary but the combination between rather swift service, decent dishes, the generosity of a free dessert and coffee, and the fair price makes it a quite successful establishment. The “salad of the day” was fine in terms of ingredients, sauce, and flavour.

The “beef entrecôte Madagascar served with noodles and vegetables” (CHF 21.50) was good in terms of the quality of the meat but it was prepared quite rare. I personally like that but frankly, I think it is the responsibility of the waiter to ask how you want your meat to be prepared. I know a lot of people who wouldn’t like it ‘rare’ but preferred medium. Therefore, I consider it a bit special that one is not asked how the meat shall be prepared.

Lastly, some kind of “panna cotta with a lemon note” and an “espresso” were served for dessert. Again, simple but decent. However, for CHF 21.50 for all this together, you really can’t complain at all.

Given the Farnsburg does seem to be the best option around, it is highly recommended to book a table in advance.
