Outstanding lunch offering: Restaurant Toscano im Niederdorf (2. October 2017)
Although I have tried 400+ restaurants in Zurich, I keep stumbling across new ones, or rather ones I haven’t tried yet. And the Toscano is definitely one of them – and I was quite positively surprised by their lunch offering (CHF 42.00). The starter was “pomodorini e burrata” which was surprisingly good. After having tried the pomodorini a few days back at the Ristorante d’Aurora I didn’t expect to get something similar soon again at this time of the year.
The “tagliata di manzo (beef entrecôte, rucola, parmesan, roasted potatoes)” was delicious – the amount and quality of the meat was exquisite. And for only CHF 42.00 all together, what you get is quite exceptional for central Zurich. The prices for beverages on the other hand are quite comparable to any other place (e.g. “double espresso”, CHF 6.50; “0,5l San Pellegrino, CHF 6.50).
In addition to that, the place is decorated quite lovely and appealing and the service is rather attentive and quick. Something you don’t find too often these days either. Therefore, overall, I can highly recommend the Toscano im Niederdorf – make sure to book a table in advance.
