A former monastery turned into a bar: Refectory Bar @ Augustine, a Luxury Collection Hotel (7. October 2017)
The Augustine, a Luxury Collection hotel is a former monastery and is, therefore, quite spacious and has impressive rooms. This is also true for the hotel bar – the Refectory Bar. It is located in a lovely surrounding, the rooms are incredibly tall, and you do feel quite royal somehow. But there is one thing to that feeling – you will also feel cold quite quickly. Simply because it isn’t isolated and there is an AC running (also at night) so you should make sure to wear something warm.
As I wanted to try something local, I ordered the “Monk’s Linctus (mezcal, honey water, lemon juice, fresh ginger and Ardbeg)” (230 CZK) which was surprisingly good but also rather small as approximately 50% of the glass was filled with a square ice cube.
Overall, the Refectory Bar is a lovely place but – for my personal gusto – too cold in autumn or winter. I can imagine for it to be quite amazing though in spring or summer. Definitely a place where you can go back to.
