A great lunch offering: Restaurant O’Premier (9. October 2017)
Although I have spent quite some time of my life in St. Gallen, I was never aware that there is a restaurant on the first floor of the Hotel Metropol. And not only, that there is a restaurant but actually quite a good one. The lunch menu (CHF 38.00) started with a “chestnut cream soup” which was a bit watery but good in taste.
The “grilled beef entrecôte with ‘café de Paris’ sauce, rosemary potatoes and vegetables” didn’t look too appealing at first but the meat was actually of good quality and prepared perfectly medium-rare as requested.
And part of the menu was “sweet chestnut puree” and all of that came with the menu for CHF 38.00 which I consider super reasonable in price. The dishes are good and the service is friendly and attentive. However, while the place itself is quite lovely, it is also not that spacious so there is not much space to move once you’re seated.
Overall, the Restaurant O’Premier (note the “non-French way to write it”) is a great place for lunch which offers super decent meals for a very fair price. Just make sure to book a table in advance as it is pretty packed for lunch.
