Straight access to the kitchen: Restaurant CUT by Wolfgang Puck @ Four Seasons Bahrain Bay (13. November 2017)

One has to celebrate events as they come – the 25th birthday of a colleague was the the perfect occasion to do so and CUT by Wolfgang Puck definitely seemed the right place to do so. As a starter I went for the “Wagyu Sashimi” (11.000 BHD) which was incredibly tender and absolutely lovely. However, I am not entirely sure if it is worth its price.

As a main course I went for the “U.S.D.A. PRIME, Corn Fed Nebraska, U.S.A., 100% Pure Black Angus, Aged 28 Days, Filet Mignon, 225gr” (27.000 BHD) served with “Sauce Béarnaise” (usually 1.000 BHD). The meat was grilled perfectly medium-rare as requested and it had a lovely grill taste. The only thing I wasn’t so sure about was the weight as it definitely didn’t look like 225gr. But still great in taste.

The “French Fries” which came with it and the variety of sauces added to the experience but would not really have been necessary as the meat itself is already quite tasty.

As I had briefed the restaurant about the event, our colleague, Julien, got his birthday cake which was more of a soufflé and tasted apparently quite good.

As I went into the kitchen, respectively was told that I could enter, I spoke a bit to the chef and we got some complimentary desserts. On the one hand side “honey ice cream with cajeta” which was incredibly sweet but absolutely delicious. On the other hand “chocolate ice cream” and I must say that it was absolutely delicious despite the fact that I’m not a big fan of chocolate.

Before the actual meal you get a nice selection of different breads and butter but I have definitely had better bread before that.

If you have the chance, I can definitely recommend you to pay the kitchen a visit where they explain you what kind of food they prepare in which station and how the grill works. Definitely worth seeing, especially as the kitchen is easily accessible and the sous chef was very friendly. Thanks again, Luke!

Unfortunately, the didn’t have the wine we had asked for (Corte Sant’Aida “Ca’Fiui”, Valpolicella, 2012) anymore so they offered us a “Chianti Classico” for the same price (45.000 BHD). While I consider the “offering at the same price” a nice gesture I wonder why they would run out of such a basic wine. However, the wine was decent and but the price was a bit steep.

Overall, I can recommend you the restaurant CUT by Wolfgang Puck as the meat is tender and has the perfect grill taste – the staff is friendly, professional and overall swift and what I liked most besides the quality of the food was the flexibility, openness and friendliness of the sous chef and the staff. So, despite on the pricier side, definitely worth visiting.
