When an international restaurant serves a local hit: Trader’s Vic Restaurant & Bar @ The Ritz Carlton Hotel (6. December 2017)
A friend has talked about the ‘chili hamour’ for quite a while so I was rather curious how it tasted and if it was really as great as he had announced it to be. And against my expectation, it was really a great dish. The fish is tender, the sauce applied to it is rich and full of flavour and has a nice spiciness. Not too spicy, but just so it is a bit tickling your spicy taste buds.
And it goes with simple white rice – a combination which seems simple at first but is really worth trying. And despite the fact that the dish looks rather small at first, it is actually quite a portion, believe me. So, if you are dining at the Trader’s Vic, you definitely have to try the ‘chili hamour’ as it is a local fish and the only place where it is prepared this way.
The place itself is decent and the service is really almost up to its task – again, the water re-filling system doesn’t entirely work if you drink a lot of water quickly but else the service is absolutely good. While you have to book a table on weekends, there is absolutely no need to do so during the week as the place is pretty much empty.
