Outstanding meat but weak service performance: Restaurant Attic (20. December 2017)

The Attic had been recommended to me a couple of times since I’ve arrived to Bahrain – and it is definitely worth visiting. If you manage to get a table outside on the terrace then you have a good view onto the city (if you sit at the edge) and it is quite comfortable out there.

Our waitress was not really up to the task – we had ordered quite a bit and she was not able to remember properly. And when one of the party said that he understood that there were potatoes coming with the dish she denied it, although it was clearly written on the menu which she then called a ‘typo’. Really, a three words typo? Well, turns out we were right and she got back to us to apologize. But how limited can you be? If it says with potatoes on the menu and we point you to it, why the hell would you say “this is a typo”?

Anyways, the “Scent of Aphrodite (vanilla-infused vodka, drambuie, honey and lime, matcha tea)” (6.000 BHD) was a lovely drink – slightly too sweet but besides that truly an amazing drink perfect to start the evening.

The “fried calamari with ‘Kroko Kozani’s’ mayo” (5.200 BHD) was decent. The calamari were tasty – the may was not entirely to my taste though as it was somehow a bit too dense for me.

The “Greek meatballs (cumin spiced beef & lamb, served with tomato salsa & feta cheese)” (5.800 BHD) on the other hand were great. Juicy, yummy meatballs you are able to enjoy in combination with the feta cheese.

The “Greek feta cheese pies (with honey, chili & coriander sauce)” (6.200 BHD) was good but a bit too expensive compared to the rest of the starters.

What really blew my mind was the meat. I went for the “prime fillet, 300gr (in thyme, oregano & olive oil, grilled & served with wild mushroom & creamy green peppercorn sauce)” (21.000 BHD) and while I had not expected for the meat to be that good it was actually absolutely breath-takingly amazing! The meat was incredibly aromatic and so unbelievably tender and aromatic! Although the Attic is not a steakhouse and claims to be a Greek restaurant, I would recommend it anytime for this meat! Absolutely gorgeous!

The “sweet potato chips” (2.200 BHD) were good but a bit too dry for my personal gusto.

The meat served at Attic was absolutely outstanding and in general the food was good. The place itself is lovely, spacious, and you really get to enjoy the atmosphere on the rooftop terrace. It is just important you book a table on the terrace in advance as else you won’t stand a chance to actually sit outside. The service was really not up to the task – she was way too intense while definitely not being professional enough to actually provide the service her words tried to promise.
