Outstanding service and great meat: Restaurant Attic (20. January 2018)

| June 15, 2018 | 0 Comments

The Attic remains a great place for meat – much better than many proclaimed meat restaurants I’ve visited in Manama. The place was a bit empty due to the sandstorm and inside the climate was a bit too chilly but we were warmly welcomed by the waitress, Anna, who was very caring and lovely. I went for the “Flaming Cheese Saganaki (pan-melted kefalotyri cheese, over fire in Ouzo served with home-made fig jam)” (6.800 BHD) as a starter which was surprisingly delicious.

The “Greek feta cheese pies (with honey, chilli & coriander sauce)” (6.200 BHD) are good but fall apart rather easily which makes it a bit difficult to eat them.

The “Prime Fillet, 300gr (300gr prime beef fillet, marinated in thyme, oregano & olive oil grilled & served with wild mushroom & creamy green peppercorn sauce)” (21.000 BHD) is great. The meat is tender, perfectly grilled and the flavours with the salt and pepper applied for preparation is just outstanding. The mushroom sauce makes it absolutely perfect.

The “Midas Touch” (6.000 BHD) which was – unfortunately – served together with the main course instead of before, was okay but not among my favourite drinks.

What I truly liked about the place was the care and attention. Anna, you excelled! And when we look at the prices, it is not a cheap experience but at least in terms of quality, it is absolutely worth spending the money.

If you want to get a table outside on the balcony on a day where there is no sandstorm, make sure you book in advance. And, although the food is generally Greek, the meat is really the reason why you should come here. Prices are okay – not really outstanding but definitely okay, also for the beverages (e.g. San Pellegrino, 2.200 BHD; double espresso, 2.500 BHD).
