Surprisingly good dishes where you would not expect it: Restaurant Wagamama @ Bahrain City Centre (28. January 2018)
I had originally ordered the edamame with chili and salt but got the regular ones instead. The “edamame (steamed edamame beans with salt)” (2.750 BHD) were good and the salt was not applied in large amounts at it often is. However, you have to be a bit patient before you actually get something to eat.
The “Chili Beef Ramen (spicy beef noodle soup, red onion, spring onions, beansprouts, chilies, coriander and fresh lime)” (6.750 BHD) was quite an epic portion. The meat was good – something I had not entirely expected. However, the toppings (if you can call soup ingredients toppings) were a bit too much. They should have rather added some more noodles than a variety of sprouts, onions and spring onions. It is a lovely dish though – rich, flavourful.
The place is relatively stiff and not that appealing, but then again, what to expect from a restaurant in a shopping mall. The service is friendly and tries its best but you still have to be patient beyond a comfortable level. Within the mall, the Wagamama is one of the better options though.
