Interesting local Turkish dishes: Restaurant Köşebaşı (30. January 2018)

While I was not persuaded about the humus the last time I was at Köşebaşı in November but as I had forgotten, I still ordered it again. And well, the humus was still as dense as the last time. Not really to my liking. However, the “Pastirmali Humus (home-made humus topped with olive oil and pastrami)” (2.600 BHD) was great for one reason. The pastrami which was on top of the humus! It made it a truly delicious piece of food as it was flavourful and salty.

The “Findik Lahmacun (traditional pidette with ground, seasoned meat)” (0.400 BHD) was rather boring in terms of taste but with a splash of lemon, the dish definitely got pimped up quite a bit!

Somehow, I didn’t feel like trying this typical Turkish meat which always has a very intense and strong grill flavour but went for the “Manti (little dumplings made of seasoned ground lamb with onion, wrapped in a homemade dough, boiled until soften, topped with garlic yogurt sauce and garnish with melted butter and Turkish spices)” (4.600 BHD) which is in itself rather simple but still quite delicious.

Overall, the Köşebaşı is okay in terms of food – nothing outstanding, nothing mind-blowing but it offers a decent selection of dishes and they are actually quite okay in terms of taste. The service is friendly and caring but not a 100% up to the task as they are slow and not really attentive. All in all, if you are somehow obliged to eat in the vicinity of the Bahrain City Centre, the Köşebaşı is a good alternative.
