The perfect shisha place: The Courtyard @ Hotel Manzil Downtown (1. February 2018)
The Courtyard is a lovely place which allows you to smoke shisha ‘outside’. Somehow, it is forbidden to enjoy a shisha outside as it might harm other people. The Courtyard is the best compromise as it is a patio area where you can sit outside but you’re a bit sheltered from the streets. The place is simple, lovely and you feel comfortable right away. However, as you can’t book a table in advance, they manage to create a perfect moment of ‘exclusivity’ as you have to wait for quite a bit until you’re seated. Now, the gist here is that there are actually tables free but there seems to be a fake-ish waiting list so it is ‘more fancy’. A concept I don’t entirely understand.
The waiters are friendly and helpful and the shisha guy makes sure your “double apple shisha” (105.00 AED) gets a regular charcoal update, so the shisha stays ‘fresh’. The prices are generally fair with e.g. 31 AED for a large bottle of Badoit or 38 AED for Moroccan tea. The Courtyard truly is a great location for relaxation and enjoyment.
