Nicely by the beach but not memorable: Restaurant Bait Al Bahar (2. February 2018)

| June 26, 2018 | 0 Comments

The Bait Al Bahar is a simple little restaurant by the beach which is mainly nice due to the fact that it is located by the beach. A lot of areas are privatized or ‘hotel-ized’, so you don’t have free beach access. However, here, it’s still possible. Once you went through all the patience of ordering and waiting for your waiter to move a bit, you are brought some bread and spread. The olive spread is rather simple but the bread is nicely crispy which was a positive surprise for me.

Now, before you get to try the dishes, you have to definitely be patient as it took them a solid 30 minutes until the main course was served. I haven’t seen so large battered fishes. Usually, you get like small pieces but this was just twice a huge piece of fish in batter. And frankly, it could have been cooked a bit more as it was very close to raw. The fries were okay and the sauce tartare was freshly from the sauce squeeze bottle but it did the trick. The “homemade fish & chips (battered fish fillet and fries with tartar sauce and malt vinegar)” (69 AED) are eatable but not much more than that.

What I thing is truly annoying is the fact that you have to wait quite a bit until the waiter moves. They are not very attentive and frankly also not that friendly. But I guess, given to their monopoly, that is kind of okay for them. So, all in all, while the location is nice, the rest is no reason to come here.
