Decent location for a late-night dinner: Restaurant Mejhana (8. February 2018)

| June 30, 2018 | 0 Comments

There aren’t many restaurants open in the Ajman Saray, A Luxury Collection Hotel which still serve food after 11pm but the Restaurant Mejhana does. Luckily. I went for the “Hummus Lahme (traditional hummus served with lamb cubes seared in ghee with pine nuts)” (47 AED) as a starter and it was good. The meat was more than usually in such type of hummus, but in any case, tasty.

The “oven baked Hamour steak (oven-baked hamour fish steak marinated in Arabic sauce stuffed with lemon, mixed pepper, sweet onion served with Lebanese style saffron rice, grilled vegetables & harra sauce)” (105 AED) was definitely rich but a bit too dry for my personal gusto. And while I appreciate decoration and like the different types of sprouts and the like spread over the fish, it was definitely too much and overwhelming the original taste.

The “Watermelon Juice” (32 AED) on the other hand was perfect as it wasn’t sweetened by sugar or syrup.

And the “bread, olive oil & some dip” which was served to bridge waiting time was just perfect. As it has to be.

Overall, the restaurant is nice, spacious, and also quite fine in terms of decoration. However, the service is a tiny bit too slow. You have to wait quite a bit before you get your food. I get it that it isn’t so cool to have guests after midnight but it still took way too long for the first courses to be served. Make sure to have your SPG card with you as you get a 20% discount on the dishes. The prices are decent, especially with the 20% discount – which is also true for the prices for the beverages (e.g. San Benedetto Sparkling Water, 0,75l, 37 AED; respectively, Moroccan Mint Tea, 37 AED). All in all, the Lebanese restaurant Mejhana is a decent place to have a late dinner.
