Outstanding dining experience where you would not expect it: Restaurant Bab al Bahr (9. February 2018)

I had the pleasure to meet the head chef of the Ajman Saray resort, Mr. Mohammed Raees, who had the generosity to prepare dinner for me. I was recommended the “Bab Al Bahr Platter (mixed grill selection of lamb chops, beef tenderloin, beef rib eye, chicken steak and classic kofta)” (167 AED) which was definitely incredibly much better than expected. After all, the Bab al Bahr is a beach bar which is a all you can eat buffet restaurant during the day. Therefore, my expectations were low. But the meat quality and the preparation was truly outstanding – which is also true for the garlic mashed potatoes.

The dessert he had prepared was not on the menu but it was truly delicious – smooth, the perfect combination of the intense flavor of chocolate combined with the crunchiness of little crunchy balls. And the attention to detail was just astonishing as even the small cream elements were decorated like flowers.

While it is not really the atmospheric place to go to for dinner, it is definitely an amazing place to enjoy the afternoon with a great shisha.

In any case, the service is good and the dishes are far better than the surroundings would make you expect. A big thumbs up to the head chef, Mohammed Raees.
