The healthiest food in whole of Bahrain: Restaurant Lumee Street Café @ Al Aali Mall (13. February 2018)

The Lumee Street Café is definitely one of the better restaurants I have tried while being in Bahrain. They serve healthy, tasty food! The “Harra Hummus (spicy) (hummus whipped with grilled red pepper & chili puree)” (1.900 BHD) was absolutely delicious! Spicy, yes! But amazing! The “Kale Sabzi with Feta Cheese (shredded kale, tarragon dill, parsley, mint, tossed with crunchy spiced oats, zereshk, pistachio and feta cheese, lemon mint dressing)” and the “Couscous salad with grilled chicken breast (spiced couscous, peas, long beans, snow peas, raisins, roast peppers, sun-dried tomato, caramelized onions, grilled chicken breast slices)”, both served as side salads to the main dish were great! Especially the kale salad! The couscous was a bit an overload of couscous though.

The problem with most haloumi cheeses is the consistency as it is quite heavy and solid but the “grilled Haloumi Cheese Block (with coriander-pistachio dressing and homemade pickles)” (3.600 BHD) was perfectly liquid and creamy! Just like haloumi should be! Absolutely delicious!

The “Fresh Falafil (individually handmade the traditional way to thin disks, served with tahini-yogurt or spicy shatta) (6pcs)” (2.300 BHD) was my disappointment in it all.

The “White Cold Pressed Juice (almond milk, banana, pineapples, lychee)” (2.300 BHD) tasted mainly like almonds which is a good thing but still was somehow a bit stale.

I’m not a big fan of the local cuisine which is basically grilled meat but often in a way that it is a bit burned. Now, frankly speaking, the “Mixed Grills (Bahraini lamb kabab, tikka lumee, chicken tikka and spicy lamb chops)” (6.500 BHD) were a bit of an exception to what I have tried so far in Bahrain. The meat was just somehow much better than what I have tried so far.

The restaurant is also rather appealing as the inside is lovely. The service is overall doing a decent job but they forgot a couple of orders so we had to reorder them. At least they weren’t booked twice. All in all, I can absolutely recommend you the Lumee Street Café as it really offers great, healthy, and most importantly, tasty food!
