One of the best Bloody Mary’s ever: The Manhattan Lounge @ The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort (16. February 2018)
The signature drink at the St. Regis is always some version of a Bloody Mary. And in The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort it is “The Arabian Snapper (The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Abu Dhabi) – Russian Standard Platinum vodka, tomato juice, za’atar, cumin powder, Angostura bitters, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire suace, ground pepper and lemon juice garnished with lemon, cherry tomato and sprig of thyme” (65 AED). Usually, I’m not a big fan of bloody Marys but, damn, this thing was delicious!
The lounge itself is not that appealing and the Champagne sabering ritual is also rather disappointing as you don’t get to see much and it is is not properly celebrated like in other St. Regis’.
However, the waiter who attended me did an outstanding job. He was so passionate about the bloody Mary at the St. Regis and its history that he took you completely under his spell. Frankly, one of the most dedicated waiters I have seen in a long while, and especially in the region.
