Your private dining experience @ Emirates First Class Lounge @ Terminal A (24. February 2018)

There is always a first time for everything in life – and today was the first time I have been to a First Class Lounge. The lounge is humongous! It is basically another airport layer on top of the actual airport layer. And there are two proper à la carte restaurants in there. I decided to have the “tuna carpaccio (wafer-thin slices of tuna dressed with an oriental salad of courgettes, tomatoes, onions and peppers tossed with chili, lime and coriander)” as a starter which was quite decent but a bit too heavy on the vegetables side……

As a main, I went for the “grilled T-bone steak (prime T-bone steak grilled to your liking, served with chive butter, field mushrooms, cherry tomato, fresh rocca leaves and golden fried potatoes)”. And the steak was surprisingly lovely. The meat was good in terms of texture and temperature.

Even the bread basket is better than what you get in quite a few restaurants. Frankly, I was very positively surprised by the quality of the food, especially considering the speed in which it was served.

The service is friendly, professional and relatively swift. However, when it comes to the education of admittedly great wines, it is rather limited. The answer to the question “What wines do you have?” was “red and white” which I would – even if it is not a restaurant in it’s classical sense – not expect, especially considering a bottle of wine is about 100+ USD.

In any case, if you have the chance to enter into a First Class Lounge of Emirates at the Dubai airport, it is definitely worth doing so. Be it if you actually fly First class or if you are a Platinum member of the Emirates Skyward program.
