Good but definitely overpriced for what it’s worth: Restaurant Plums @ The Ritz Carlton Bahrain (6. March 2018)
While my last experience at Plums a couple of months back wasn’t that amazing, this time it was somehow a bit better. The “fried beef bonbon with chocolate mayo” as an “amuse bouche” was delicious.
And it went on with the “tartare (prime beef, French seasoning, fries, egg yolk)” (14.500 BHD). It is cut quite roughly as it is hand-cut which makes it truly lovely. I’m still not yet a 100% accustomed to the fact that they do not serve any toast with it but the quality of the meat is great, so there is actually no toast and butter needed.
The “Irish Grass-Fed dry aged tenderloin, 200gr” (21.000 BHD) is served with a dis-proportioned amount of sauce Béarnaise. It is almost as big as the tenderloin. And the meat is okay but definitely far from great.
The “creamed spinach” (2.600 BHD) is fine in terms of taste but a bit too creamy for my taste. The “French fries” (2.600 BHD) are fine but lack a bit in crispiness. So, all in all, the experience was amazing with the amuse bouche but then it didn’t really live up to the expectations of the amuse bouche.
The service does a decent job – while the waitress managed to be on top of her game, her colleague didn’t really manage to do so. So, to sum it up, the Plums is okay but for what you pay for it, it isn’t really worth the spending.
