Great grill skills: The Grill Pit @ The St. Regis Dubai, Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club (9. March 2018)

| August 8, 2018 | 0 Comments

The Grill Pit is an intense place – noisy, loud but full of life. I started with a non-meaty starter. The “avocado salad (avocado, asparagus, sun dried tomato pesto, green peppers, preserved lemon dressing)” (85 AED) didn’t look too appealing at first as the salad leaves were way too big to be palatable. And the avocado looked a bit too hard but it turned out that the salad was actually surprisingly tasty and the avocado was creamy and delicious.

I have quite high expectations when it comes to meat – and frankly, the “Argentinian Black Angus Tenderloin Steak, 200gr (black hornless breed originally from Scotland. The Argentinian soil gives to the meat a unique taste)” (245 AED) was among the better pieces of meat I have had in quite a while. The meat was grilled perfectly aromatic, had amazing grill taste and was yet tender and luscious. Frankly, amazing meat!

As a side, I went for the “grilled asparagus” (35 AED), the “creamy spinach” (35 AED) and the “steak fries” (35 AED). The creamy spinach and the grilled asparagus were both nice. The steak fries on the other hand were completely stroppy and not crispy at all. After the waiter came to ask how things are, I mentioned that the steaks are not good – and he took them and replaced them with regular fries which were nicely crispy…

If you are looking for a good piece of meat, it is definitely the right place to go – the meat is tender, luscious and grilled to perfection. The service is swift, friendly, and dedicated. And the place is quite intensive and lovely. However, the pricing for alcohol is still off. A bottle of “Malbec, S. Julia, Mendoza, Argentina” accounts for 220 AED. But for the meat, I would say it’s even worth the travel.
