The one place which doesn’t fit the property: Restaurant Oasis @ The St. Regis Dubai, Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club (10. March 2018)

While my overall experience at all the restaurants in The St. Regis was a positive one, the Oasis is not really on a comparable level. The Oasis is the pool restaurant and frankly not really appealing in terms of layout and setup. However, they have a small little spot a bit on the side looking like a little patio where it is okay. I went for the “Oasis Quinoa (grilled prawns, organic quinoa, peas, green beans, asparagus, avocado)” (75 AED). The prawns were overcooked and way too dry and the avocado was rather hard. So, compared to previous dishes, this one was quite a disappointment.

Even worse was “The Burger (200gr Wagyu beef patty, fontina cheese, grilled onion, tomato chutney, lettuce and gherkin)” (95 AED). Firstly, I was not asked how I wanted the meat to be grilled so it pretty much came as a well done meat patty. Secondly, the buns were really stroppy bread pieces. Far from lovely. At least the French fries were sufficiently crispy.

At least they had a good selection of drinks. I went for the “Mango and Passion Fruit Smoothie” (35 AED) which was rich, the “Watermelon Juice” (30 AED) which was perfect as it had no sugar and additional syrup. And lastly, the “Piña Colada” (55 AED) was quite decent as well.

However, when it comes to the service, there is an incredible amount of improvement possible. The serving of the salad took a very solid 35 minutes. I’m sorry, but this can really not be! I had to wait 35 minutes for the most simple of salads! How is this even possible? So, while The St. Regis has a number of good restaurants, the Oasis is really not a place I’d try if I was you.
