When recommendations go wrong: Restaurant Verissimo (16. March 2018)
The name ‘Verissimo’ should already have rung a bell. But unfortunately, it didn’t. It was supposed to be a place of Spanish tapas and Brazilian traditional cuisine. The “beringela empanada com tomate fresco e queijo Brie gratinado” (20 BRL) was definitely not appealing and didn’t taste like much.
What I was positively surprised about was the “Picanha Argentina na chapa (fatiada com farofa, cebola, alho e vinagrete)” (84 ARL). While, admittedly, have the dish was onions but the other part was actually quite tasty. For my personal gusto, too many pieces had a layer of fat but it made the meat absolutely aromatic.
The “pulpo a la gallega” (54 BRL) was something the waiter had suggested and not something I really wanted to order but ended up agreeing to get it. And I was positively surprised as the pulpo was actually surprisingly tender and not chewy at all.
Overall, the place isn’t really great as it is incredibly noisy, the atmosphere is somewhat not fancy and the waiters are super slow! Admittedly friendly, but super slow! All in all, you get surprisingly decent food but else, it is really not a place I would recommend.
