Seafood worth trying in Caraguatatuba: Restaurant Mar e Terra (17. March 2018)

Unknowingly, I ended up in the second best restaurant in Caraguatatuba. Surprising in terms of atmosphere but once the dishes arrived, I understood why. The “Bolinho de Bacalhau (8 unidades)” (43 BRL) was a good starter in combination with the tomato and onion dip they served with it.

The “Picanha à Brasileira (grelhada, acompanha arroz branco, fritas, farofa e vinagrete)” (92 BRL) was somewhat okay. I definitely have had better meat options while in Brazil but the quality of the meat was okay and the palm hearts were really good.

My absolute favorite though was the “seafood salad” which consisted of a lot of seafood: mussels, prawns, king prawns, pulpo, and much more. While it didn’t look super appealing at first, it was delicious! I guess this reconfirms that the best thing you can eat by the sea, is seafood. The portion is quite family-oriented. There is no need to order more than one thing as they really serve a lot of food. But it was luscious!

The view is – well – okay. You get to see the sea, however, there is a big road in between which obviously kind of ruins your view. Still, not too bad all in all.

The service is a bit impaired when it comes to language as there is exactly one person speaking English and all the rest of it only speaks Portuguese. But with sign language and pointing, things worked. The prices are absolutely okay – and, well, I haven’t tried any other restaurants in Caraguatatuba but this one is definitely worth trying.
