Great service and lovely view onto the Acropolis: Restaurant GB Roof Garden @ Hotel Grand Bretagne (30. March 2018)
Last time I was at the GB Roof Garden, I enjoyed a lovely evening with a marvelous view over the Acropolis. For lunch, the view is not as breath-taking but definitely still worth going. And not only because of the food but also because of the quality of the service and the quality of the food. The lunch starts with a selection of “bread and spread”. The selection of different breads is quite impressive and absolutely delicious.
Given, I was bound to vegetables these days, I decided to go for the “Green kale salad with goat cheese, roasted apples, pomegranate, currants, Jerusalem artichoke and balsamic-citrus vinaigrette” (20.00 EUR) which was refreshing and rich in taste. The goat cheese piece, however, wasn’t entirely to my liking. The pomegranate seeds definitely provide a refreshing element to the salad.
The “homemade ‘ravioli’ with roasted pumpkin, mushrooms and gorgonzola cream” (EUR 24.00) was optically incredibly appealing but unfortunately didn’t entirely fulfill my expectations. Somehow there were too many flavors on the plate but admittedly, the ravioli were great in terms of consistency though.
What is truly outstanding is the service – everyone is very caring and attentive. The water glass never empties and the waiter makes sure all your requests are dealt with pretty much immediately. Furthermore, if you are dining here, make sure to bring your SPG membership card as you get 10% off if you can show it (or at least know your number). All in all, I can absolutely recommend you the GB Roof Garden at the Hotel Grand Bretagne – even if you don’t stay here as the food is good, the service is exquisite and the view onto the Acropolis is nothing but breath-taking.
