Still lovely but with very limited vegetarian options: Restaurant GB Roof Garden @ Hotel Grand Bretagne (1. April 2018)
As the pain in my foot was unbearable, I decided to not move that day and enjoy lunch again in the GB Roof Garden restaurant with a nice view onto the Acropolis. This time, seated outside in the front row where you really get to fully enjoy the view. It was rather windy which made it a bit of a challenge for the waiters but they did an outstanding job in attending. As a starter I went for the “Soup of the day” (18.00 EUR) which was pumpkin based and rich in terms of flavor.
The “dish of the day” (29.00 EUR) was a risotto with mushrooms and truffle oil. While I’m usually not a big fan of truffle oil, I decided to go for it nevertheless as I had tried almost all vegetarian options on the menu already. And I was very positively surprised as the dish was good. The portion was a bit small though (especially for EUR 29.00) but it was still worth it.
The prices are generally on the heavier side but I guess that is what you can expect if you eat in the ‘best hotel of the city’ (according to various people) but the 10% off being an SPG member help. The price for water, i.e “Souroti, 0,75l” is very decent though with EUR 6.00. If you want to make sure to have a table outside, book in advance or come right when they open for their lunch service at 1pm.
