Tibetan ‘momo’ dumplings in a tiny, crowded place: Restaurant Tenz Momo (15. April 2018)
The Restaurant Tenz Momo offers exactly one type of dish (and some salads) which are ‘momo’. You wonder what ‘momo’ are? Momo are Tibetan dumplings. Not sure how exactly they are different from other dumplings as in terms of consistency they are rather similar to ‘regular Asian’ dumplings. I went for the “vegan version (dried shiitake mushrooms, cep, chick peas and coriander), 10 pieces” (CHF 20.00) which were absolutely delicious. Surprisingly, especially for me, as I have a somewhat negative connotation in my head with vegan.
The place is small land the service is friendly and dedicated but they were a bit under a stretch in terms of speed of service. We had to wait a solid 15 minutes before any drink was served. And while I get it that they are busy I would have appreciated if they would have been able to at least bring something to drink within a few minutes. The “Ginger Lemon Honey Tea” (CHF 5.50) and the “Zurich Phil’s Ice Tea (green tea apple)” (CHF 6.00) were both great though. If you are the patient type, I can definitely recommend you to pay a visit to Tenz Momo. Also, as the place was crowded when we arrived, make sure to book a table in advance as else you will spend quite some time waiting.
