The typical French service – unfriendly as hell: Restaurant Le Village Ronsard (6. May 2018)

| October 10, 2018 | 0 Comments

To finish off the day, we decided to try another restaurant recommended in ‘Where Chefs Eat‘ but unfortunately, the ones close were either closed or even closed for good. So, we ended up in a relatively touristic place with surprisingly many locals. I went for the “Gratinée à l’oignon” (EUR 9.90) which was a typical French onion soup and I was happy when it arrived as I was starving and the soup was actually quite good. So, nothing to complain there.

Then, the whole thing became a bit absurd. Between the starter and the main they let pass a solid 30 minutes. And I get it, there is a lot of people, there is a lot of food, there is a lot of orders, you want to make it fresh (which is highly appreciated). But a “pavé de saumon d’Ecosse cuit basse température, petits légumes de saison au pesto” (EUR 15.90) is ultimately not that complicated to make. And it wasn’t good enough for it taking that long. However, it was actually very good. So at least, the waiting was good for something.

The waiter is very selectively friendly. If a male in the group would ask something he was giving away this look of ‘why do you disturb me in my fabulousness’ while if a woman would say something, he was all ears. A bit biased, I’d say. So, all in all, the place is fine to stuff your belly – if you are not in a rush. Else, not so recommended.
