Great drink based on a local candy: Bar Museo 1912 @ The Westin Palace (10. May 2018)
Apparently, “La Violeta” is a world-famous candy in Madrid which – as the name already suggests – is violet. I haven’t tried the candy but coincidentally I’ve been talking about it before entering the bar, so I couldn’t help it but actually try the drink called “La Violetera (inspired in the traditional Madrid violet candies Belvedere vodka, violet syrup, grapefruit juice, blueberry homemade syrup and mint leaves)” (EUR 21.50). And it was mainly one thing: sweet! I suppose, that’s no surprise if you get a drink which is based on candy. When you start stirring it a bit though, it becomes much tastier as the sweet seems to be mixed better.
The place is itself is quite lovely in terms of interior decoration and the service is very professional and attentive. The prices are definitely on the higher end of the spectrum though (e.g. with 0,5l San Pellegrino for EUR 7.00). The place is lovely, atmospheric and serves good drinks while offering very good service. If you’re ready to pay the price, then it’s a good choice to have a drink here.
