A bit in the outskirts but worth visiting: Wintergartencafé @ Schlosshotel Pillnitz (3. June 2018)
At first, I only wanted to take a glass of water after walking in the sun through the beautiful park Pillnitz. Given the waiter was jovial and friendly without being intrusive or the like, I decided to actually spend some more time there and went for a “portion of asparagus from Nieschütz served with butter, sauce Hollandaise and parsley potatoes” (EUR 16.50). The sauce is rather standardized and nothing special but with a hint of salt, it works. The asparagus was fine though and also the potatoes were boiled properly as should be.
The “vanilla milk shake” (EUR 4.90) was in thus far okay as it tasted liked a vanilla milk shake. A very thin one though but still like a vanilla milk shake. Definitely prepared as a powdered version (instead of e.g. with ice cream).
The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice – you get to sit outside and to enjoy the sun in a jovial atmosphere with competent and swift service. Frankly, quite perfect really! And as the Schloss Pillnitz is absolutely worth seeing (even if it means a lengthy trip by public transportation), you might was as well take a little break right here.
