Delicious four course menu with exquisite service: Restaurant Teufelhof (26. June 2018)

The Teufelhof is apparently one of the best restaurants in Basel and I must say that I tend to believe that after my experience. There is a nice selection of “butter” to start …

… with a selection of some different breads. While the selection was good some of them were a bit too dry for my personal gusto.

As an amuse bouche, we got served “fried pulpo with watermelon and panna cotta” which was simple yet refreshing so really just the perfect beginning to open up the taste buds.

The first starter of the “four course menu” (CHF 132.00), a “turbot and Berton lobster carpaccio with mango, vanilla and herb salad”, was refreshing and balanced with a nice touch of herbal flavor.

The “chanterelle ravioli with leek and thyme” were perfectly al dente and the stuffing was rich and frankly just a perfect introduction before the main course.

The main course, the”bio veal filet from Aargau with summer truffles, asparagus from Baden and potato slices” was delicious. The meat was prepared perfectly medium rare and the truffle was applied generously. However, the truffle didn’t taste like too much but all in all it was a good dish.

For dessert, they served a “variation of Swiss and French cheese” which was a perfect way to close the evening and to close your palate …

… right before the “friandises”.

We were sitting outside in a little patio which was absolutely lovely during a semi hot summer night, really just perfect in terms of atmosphere, privacy and general setting. The service was, on top of that, exquisite. Wine and water was always refilled at all times, the waitresses were incredibly friendly and you would barely notice them, making it a perfect setup
