Decent ceviche in central Zurich: Restaurant Papa Ceviche (20. July 2018)

Frankly, I wasn’t expecting much of this place called ‘Papa Ceviche’. But it is actually a place where you can expect something – the “Ceviche Classico (tilapia, lime juice, chili, onions, coriander, leche de tigre)” (CHF 14.50) was refreshing, slightly spicy and had a nice acidity.

The “Ceviche Sol Papa (redfish, sweet potatoes, mango, tomatoes, coriander, leche de tigre)” (CHF 12.50) was good too but the redfish is less to my gusto than the tilapia.

The “Ceviche Mixto (tilapia, prawns, cuttlefish, chili, coriander, onions, leche de tigre)” (CHF 12.50) was okay but frankly, I prefer fish ceviche over seafood ceviche (i.e. cuttlefish and prawns).

What I liked a lot as a side was the “Chorizo (spicy chorizo, baked and served with refreshing sour cream dip)” (CHF 10.50) – it was relatively intense and also quite overwhelming in terms of intensity but tasty overall.

The place is not located in an area of Zurich where I would expect much but the interior is quite nice in terms of decoration. The service is friendly and welcoming.

If you are looking for good ceviche, not the real Peruvian ceviche, I was told, then the Papa Ceviche is a good address in Zurich. At least I haven’t found any better ceviche so far! Booking in advance doesn’t seem necessary as it was easy to find a table even on a Friday evening.
