Lovely atmosphere covered by trees when it rains: Restaurant Oberer Mönchhof (22. July 2018)

| December 10, 2018 | 0 Comments

It is quite some time ago since I have been to this place – especially since it isn’t exactly on my ‘way’. The “home-made veal ravioli with jus and Parmesan” (CHF 26.00) are a very good and delicious starter. However, paying CHF 12.00 per ravioli seems like a bit of an exaggeration to me.

The “beef filet ‘Café Mönchshof’, 180gr” (CHF 59.00) is good. The meat is tender, full of flavour, and the application of salt is just perfect.

The “Pommes Alumettes” which are served with it are disappointing though. They are somewhat stale.

What I liked a lot was the flexibility of the kitchen. I saw a desert which had “salted caramel icecream” with some other stuff. As I only wanted the “salted caramel icecream”, I asked if I can have this plus a scoop of “sour cream icecream” (CHF 10.00) and it was made possible. And even prepared in a pretty way!

I wasn’t entirely sure what the appetizer was but it was some kind of bread with some kind of vegetable chutney. And it was overall very delicious!

The place is lovely in terms of atmosphere as you get to sit outside under the trees and you’re even covered when it starts raining which it did that evening and quite heavily. So, all in all, I can definitely recommend the Restaurant Oberer Mönchhof – also, because the service is really taking care of you and making you feel like you’re a welcomed guest.
