It just ain’t the same the second time: Restaurant Chalet Du Lac (4. August 2018)

| December 19, 2018 | 0 Comments

I have been to the Chalet du Lac a couple of weeks back and as coincidence wanted it, I returned to this place again. While, last time, I was kind of super positive about it, this time, I was a bit disappointed. While the “deep-fried pike perch strips” (CHF 18.00) were quite okay overall with the garlic sauce …

… the “fillets of mountain whitefish Chef’s style, boiled potatoes and salad” (CHF 39.00) were really not worth the money. The fish tasted pretty much like absolutely nothing and so did the potatoes. And yes, of course, you can put more salt and make it into something more tasty but frankly, it’s just not the way you want a dish served.

What is still great is the home-made salad which you get with the main dishes. The variety of ingredients they put and the home-made sauce really made for a great starter.

The place is still okay – I mean, it’s nice to sit kind of close to the lake but the place itself is rather average. And so was the service this time. I don’t know if we started off badly or something but the waiter was just somehow not really that attentive and also not really friendly. More like “oh my god, I have to do this job but I hate it every day more”. Yeah, well, given there is not much more in Iseltwald, it’s still okay to go here. But else, I would recommend you more something like the Grandhotel Giessbach.
