Decent place in a homey restaurant: Restaurant Heimelig (9. August 2018)
The ‘Heimelig’ (which means ‘homey’ in English) is apparently one of the better restaurants in the area. And admittedly, it is definitely a nice place. As it is porcini season, I went for the “fresh porcini” (CHF 22.00) which were delicious in flavour. But paying CHF 22.00 for basically one porcini just seems overpriced to me.
The “salmon filet from Ticino on a basil sauce served with an artichoke tomato risotto” (CHF 41.00) was lacking salt and the salmon was cooked for a bit too long. The artichoke tomato risotto on the other hand was absolutely delicious.
The “quince thyme parfait with quince compote” (CHF 14.00) was interesting in terms of flavour combination but annoying to eat as the thyme sprigs, respectively needles (or however you actually call them) got stuck between your teeth basically constantly.
Usually not my type of wine (Pinot Noir), the “Liestaler Blauburgunder, Beerliwein, Siebedupf” (CHF 31.00) was surprisingly good. The place is simple, nothing special in terms of decoration, but definitely nice. The service was at first really attentive and good but then it kind of went downhill – not bad but really towards average. In the region, the Restaurant Heimelig is definitely one of the better ones I’ve tried so far.
