Perfect for an extensive Sunday brunch in Chapultepec: Restaurant El Lago (19. August 2018)

| January 2, 2019 | 0 Comments

I always liked to go to Chapultepec as it is somehow ‘the’ green spot in CDMX. So, I was looking for a nice restaurant in the park – and the El Lago is actually quite a great place. For only 690 MXN you get access to the brunch buffet – and it’s worth it. There is a “soup station” with pozole and ‘jugo de res’ which was absolutely delicious – especially in combination with onions and chilis. The chilis are rather spicy though, so limited application is recommended.

You find everything you want – from fresh seafood like oysters, a variety of seafood salads …

… sushi …

… fresh vegetables, cheese …

… salad …

… cold cuts …

… and quite a luscious dessert buffet. And the quality of the dishes is actually great. Given you pay CHF 36.00 for the whole thing, it is quite exceptional.

And it doesn’t stop there, you also find a grill station outside (as well as a pasta station but I didn’t try that one) where you can pick from a variety of meats …

… which are freshly prepared for you. Besides that, there is a “quesadilla station” where you can get ‘plain quesadillas’ …

… as well as five other ones like “pollo” or “rajas”. And they are freshly prepared in front of your eyes.

Besides the good food for a very fair price, you get also a nice atmosphere and good service.

Additionally, it is decorated nicely inside …

… and you sit right next to the lake (and the huge mirrors on the wall allow you to see the lake even if you are sitting the ‘other way round’).

All in all, I can definitely recommend El Lago for an extensive Sunday brunch – it’s important to book in advance though as the place is quite crowded on a Sunday. The prices for beverages are also rather fair with 40 MXN for 0,3l agua mineral and 116 MXN for a double espresso.
