The Restaurant ALDEN per te is located in the ALDEN Hotel Splügenschloss which is situated within walking distance from Zurich Enge. It is easily reachable by tram #5 (Stop: “Rentenanstalt”) or the trams #6, #7, or #13 (Stop: “Tunnelstrasse”).

There are some other restaurants close to it (direction Paradeplatz) like the Onyx Bar at the Hyatt Park Hotel, the Restaurant Mövenpick Palavrion, or the La Stanza Bar. In the other direction there is e.g. the Restaurant Acqua.

When you enter the hotel, a janitor welcomes you and helps you hanging your jacket. You’re brought to your table where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant. The rooms are really nice, high and welcoming.

It took the waiter quite some time until he came to our table. We had to wait more than 10 minutes after he has brought the ordered aperitivo until we got served with the menu. Also, the waiter was very correct the way he was serving but he wasn’t friendly at all (this doesn’t mean he was unfriendly, but he treated us as if we were not there).

I’ve ordered a ALDEN salad as a main dish which was pretty good in taste. It was rather big and you sure had enough after the salad. The sauce was good and the bread served with olive pate and dried tomatoes pate was very great.

The price is fair for the size of the salad and the taste (CHF 26.00) but in general the prices are pretty high in the ALDEN per te. At least they have a great selection of wine like i.e. the Barolo Dagromis Gaja (where a glass costs CHF 18.00 though).

All in all, the Restaurant ALDEN per te has a really nice atmosphere, extremly correct but not that friendly waiters, good food, but is quite pricy. To be entirely fair, the other time I’ve been there just for drinks (Piano Bar at Hotel ALDEN Splügenschloss), the service was friendly.
