Crappy atmosphere but okay dishes: Grand Café Valerius (4. September 2018)
A bit more than a year ago, I had already the ‘pleasure’ to eat at the Café Valerius and nothing much has changed. The food is still surprisingly good for the place. And the place is rather super-basic. I mean, nothing appealing really in terms of atmosphere and decoration. But at least the starters were generally tasty and quite a variety was offered to be tried.
The “burger” which was served was actually quite fine – the buns were a bit too sloppy for my personal gusto but besides that, all good. Even the sauce added its part.
The service is friendly but somehow they are not really up to the task – I mean, basically, there was one waitress and she was absolutely at the lower end of her performance curve quite challenged with the fact that – in a place which usually seems to be quite empty – there were 10 people ordering food at the same time (and: it was a set (!) menu)! The only variety was ‘what kind of meat do you want’ and given everyone wanted beef, it was kind of very easy. However, the Café Valerius was absolutely okay. Not worth traveling but okay if you’re in the area.
