Good dinner in a nice atmosphere: Brasserie & Loungebar DenK @ Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg (5. September 2018)

I would say this evening was my highlight in the Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg as the menu was actually quite promising. As a starter they served “scallops with Prosciutto di Parma, salad, cucumber, pickled shallots, yogurt cream” which were fine. Of course, they don’t reach the quality level of the scallops I’ve had at O Paparico but I believe that’s kind of unachievable really.

As a main course, it was time for “guinea fowl, mushrooms, beef stock, kale, French fries” and while it looked quite tasty, it didn’t match up to the starter. The guinea fowl was too dry and, therefore, disappointing.

The dessert, on the other hand, was really good again – the “mango with white chocolate mousse, raspberry gel, oreo crumbles, Dutch cookie, mango sorbet” was actually quite delicious and mouth-watering. In addition to that, it was also quite a lovely combination in terms of colours on the plate.

The place itself is nice for dinner but also nothing outstanding. The service that evening, I must admit, did a great job. The waitresses were friendly, swift and very helpful. So, if you stay at the Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg, I would definitely dine at the Brasserie and Loungebar DenK! What kind of bugs me is that I didn’t try the one Michelin-starred restaurant on the ground floor – I should have!
