Fleischschnackas – definitely a French dish: Restaurant Les Racines (8. September 2018)
As a small amuse bouche from the kitchen, a “melon soup” was served which was nice and refreshing to cleanse your palate.
I went for something I have never heard of before which made me even more curious about it – “Les Fleischschnackas (aux escargots et jus d’herbes)” (EUR 9.50). Frankly, I don’t entirely know what it is until know but it was somewhat meat-based but actually made with snails. Not sure, how this combination works but it was quite decent.
The “little salad” which was served with it was fine, however, given it was served again with the main course, it was kind of unnecessary.
The “faux filet Black Angus Auskalie, Frites Maison” (EUR 23.00) were good but it was overall quite a portion and you’d be full already after half the portion.
The place is decent in terms of atmosphere and interior design and the waitress which seemed to be the owner as well, was friendly, helpful and relatively swift. So, overall quite good service really. The prices are very fair though which is also true for the beverages with e.g. EUR 5.50 for a liter of sparkling water, EUR 3.80 for a double espresso, or EUR 6.00 for a glass of “Châteaux des Estanilles “Faugères””.
