Hidden yet very visible but worth visiting: South Africa Grill @ Markthalle (2. October 2018)

| February 21, 2019 | 0 Comments

I spent a couple of weeks in Basel for work, yet I somehow never heard about the Markthalle – and I have driven by quite a couple of times. However, the concept is amazing – you find a bunch of food stands in the Markthalle ranging from Asian to European to South American to African cuisine. I decided to give the ‘South Africa Grill’ a shot and went for the “Buffalo Burger” (CHF 14.00) with “potatoes” (CHF 3.00).

The burger was surprisingly delicious but the sides were rather boring. The place is simple and you have to find your place to sit somehow which gives the whole lunch experience an adventurous touch.

If you are in Basel and somewhere close to the main station, then you should definitely pay a visit to the Markthalle – lovely place, energetic, a lot of different cuisines and ultimately a good price performance ratio.
