Nice place, decent service but not so great dishes today: Restaurant Hardhof (2. October 2018)
It’s about 6 months ago since I’ve last been to the Restaurant Hardhof and not much has changed since. The place is still atmospheric, traditional, somehow nice. Once you’re seated, you get “bread and dip” and they are quite generous as they brought a second round when we had asked for more.
As a starter I went for the “Pimientos de Padron with salt” (CHF 10.00) which were a bit of a disappointment. They weren’t spicy at all, and they were somewhat over-grilled. Still okay overall, but definitely far from how I would ideally want them to be.
As a main, I went for the “Pizzoccherie from Grisons with potatoes, savoy cabbage and sage” (CHF 29.00) which was not really a great dish to be honest. It was mainly dry. The broccoli – if you applied some salt – was good, but else it wasn’t really to my liking.
Generally, I would say you get good food at the Hardhof but today it wasn’t really the case, unfortunately. The prices are fair though, the atmosphere is nice and the service does a good job – and they are friendly which definitely helps.
I would definitely recommend you to book a table in advance as the place is usually rather crowded and it might be difficult to score a table on short notice.
