My dish was good – my company’s not so much: Restaurant Du Théâtre (4. October 2018)
I love to return to the Restaurant Du Théâtre – it remains, for me at least, a solid place for lunch. The menu soup was a “potato soup with prawns” which was fine but definitely lacking salt but was fine otherwise.
The “beef tatar” (CHF 34.00) with “anchovies” (CHF 3.00) was good as always. It wasn’t “medium spicy” as ordered but rather not spicy but the meat was good and there was enough toast and butter for the whole portion (something which is often missing).
The “French fries” (CHF 8.00) I had ordered as a side were okay – crispy, not oily, but also a bit too hollow (as in, it didn’t feel like biting into a piece of potato when taking a bite).
The place itself is atmospheric and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. However, what my colleague had ordered (pulpo) didn’t look closely as appealing as what I have had. The pulpo literally swam in oil. I think you could probably fry my French fries in that oil – it was that much. Which was also a bit surprising to me given that so far I have never had bad experiences with the Du Théâtre. Booking is advised.
