Enormous pizzas but super slow service: Restaurant L’Osteria Schwanthalerhöhe (7. October 2018)

| February 23, 2019 | 0 Comments

I haven’t been to the L’Osteria for quite a while and it feels that there have quite a couple of new ones opened since I last was in Munich. There was one right next to my hotel, so it was perfect after a hungover day from Oktoberfest, to pay it a visit. There is a little terrace which is perfect for people watching – the service was swift at first and the “Crema di Zucca (home-made pumpkin cream soup with pumpkin seeds and pumpkin seed oil)” (EUR 4.50) was served within minutes. The soup was good, thick, heavy, just as a soup has to be.

It didn’t take long until my “Pizza Salsiccia Piccante (mozzarella, spicy bell pepper salami, basil)” (EUR 11.50) with “additional anchovies” (+ EUR 1.50) was served. The issue was though that they had forgotten the “prosciutto crudo” I had ordered on top. Well, that’s when things started going south. The pizza was good, a bit too oily for my personal gusto but definitely a perfect cure for a hangover and overall delicious.

Then the waiting begun – I had ordered a double espressi with three different waiters – and it took a solid 30 minutes and various reminders until finally the espressi were delivered. That’s way too long! So, I was rather unsatisfied with the quality of the service overall. Perfect for a swift and thin but huge (in diameter) tasty pizza.
