Decent Italian food with German portion size: Restaurant Bocconcino (16. October 2018)
Somehow I ended up in an Italian restaurant again – as there seems to be quite a lot of them. Once seated, it took a while until the menu arrived but shortly after that, some “bread with tuna spread” was served which was fine (but not enough spread).
For dessert, I went for the “wild herbs salad with lukewarm goat cheese, strawberry dressing and sliced almonds” (EUR 15.90) which was – size-wise – more a main than a starter. The dish was fine, the salad was refreshing but the goat cheese felt a bit ‘artificial’ really and not like fresh hand-made cheese.
The “Loup de Mer fillet with lemon sauce” (EUR 29.50) was actually great – something I had not entirely expected. The fish was tasty, the vegetables were still nicely crunchy and the bed of the loup de mer was tasty as well.
In terms of atmosphere, the Bocconcino is creating an atmosphere of comfort. However, the music is a bit too loud. The service – after the initial delay – was getting better and better. Overall, the Restaurant Bocconcino is definitely a place you can have dinner at when you’re in Medienhafen.
