Decent Tex Mex selection: Restaurant Casita Mexicana Pempelfort (18. October 2018)
I am always very skeptical when it comes to Mexican food being served anywhere else but Mexico. And for a good reason. I was jokingly saying to my colleagues that the place is probably run by Italians – and I was right. The waiters were speaking Italian when we entered (I am aware that this does not mean that the chef is Italian – still)!
I went for the “quesadilla menu with pollo con rajas (chicken in salsa cream with poblano chilis, potatoes, feta cheese, corn and onions)” (EUR 9.50). It was served swiftly and it was a good portion for lunch – however, it was frankly speaking absolutely nothing Mexican. Decent Tex Mex food but that’s it.
The deal is quite good though – for EUR 9.50 you get a dish, a beverage and it is really enough for a quick lunch. And the prices are in general acceptable although I find EUR 2.40 for 0,25l of water a bit of a rip-off in comparison with the quesadillas.
