Also good during the game season: Restaurant Brasserie Freilager (18. October 2018)
I love to return to the Brasserie Freilager as it always offers tasty dishes, changes the menu on a regular basis, has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. As it is game season, I went for the “game consomé with cognac and rosemary dumplings” (CHF 16.00). I must admit thought that the starter is a bit of a rip-off – I mean, the soup isn’t bad but it sin’t very gamey really so it was a bit of a disappointment. And as you can see the bowl is rather empty as well.
The “boar with chestnut brioche, cream cabbage, black walnuts and Nocino jus” (CHF 46.00) on the other hand is mouth-watering. The meat was aromatic and very tender at the same time. Definitely something worth trying if you go to the Brasserie Freilager during game season.
The place is nice as always and gives you the perfect setup to switch off – there is almost no reception for your cellphone.
The service is friendly and swift making sure you feel comfortable right away. The prices for beverages are also acceptable with CHF 5.00 for a double espresso. The rice for water has increased quite drastically though to CHF 7.50 per 1L of water (compared to CHF 6.00 just a year ago which is an increase of 25%).
