Definitely an outstanding Sunday brunch: Restaurant Neptun @ Seehotel Sternen (21. October 2018)

| March 20, 2019 | 0 Comments

I was told a lot about the Sunday brunch at the Seehotel Sternen – so it was worth to give it a try. For CHF 63.00 you get the buffet which consists of a ‘starter buffet’, a ‘salad buffet’, a ‘main course station’ and a ‘dessert buffet’. Additionally, you get two hot beverages and a glass of prosecco to start.

The starter buffet is absolutely breath-taking – you get everything you want and everything which is dear to you as a meatitarian!

They have delicious vitello tonato, roastbeef, cheese chili balls and fried bell pepper rings!

What I fell in love with immediately is the ‘beef tartar heart’. Not only because it expressed perfectly how I feel for meat but also because it looked nicely and most importantly, because it was delicious!

Things like “lamb slices” I would usually eye critically – but the lamb was so smooth and didn’t taste like an old lamb at all that you just kind of had to dig in.

The salad buffet is not as extensive as the starter buffet – but then again, it doesn’t have to be, right?

There is even something for you there if you want to get something different than sweet dessert.

And for the ‘regular breakfast’ friends there is yogurt, fresh fruit …

… as well as a bunch of cereals and jams.

Obviously, you get to pick what kind of bread you want to your jams.

When it comes to the ‘main course buffet’, there is one downside (apparently) – they kind of always serve the same three main dishes which are “salmon cubes with lemon sauce”, “pork roast” and “roastbeef with sauce béarnaise”.

Given, I only wanted the roastbeef anyway, that’s fine for me. But I think in terms of variety, it would help the restaurant to improve the experience for returning customers.

The dessert buffet offers a good selection of all you could want for dessert – white chocolate mousse, a selection of different ice creams, and last but not least …

… a whole lot of different mousses.

The brunch is definitely worth its money. Just make sure you are not booking anything for dinner as you will foreseeably eat so much that you won’t be able to eat anything in the evening. The place is simple but fine – and I imagine if it sunny, you get a nice view onto the lake. The services is really friendly and helpful at all times – and that despite the fact that people are super busy and the place is stuffed. Just make sure to book a table in advance – the restaurant was fully booked!
