Weak starter, lovely main dish: Restaurant DOX @ Hyatt Regency Düsseldorf (7. November 2018)
Once more I ended up in the DOX trying to get something off the menu I haven’t tried yet, so I went for the “caesar salad (parmesan, bacon, croûtons)” (EUR 12.00) which was mainly sauce. I mean, the ingredients were there as promised but if you look at it in a bit more detail, it is basically sauce and quite heavy one.
I went for the “gilthead fished by hand from the eastern sea with pork belly, pumpkin roesti, and cress” (EUR 33.00) – only, they ran out of gilthead and instead I got salmon. I get it that you want ingredients only when they are available but somehow I would expect a restaurant of that size which is kind of full every single day of the week plus has one standard menu which doesn’t change much, to have things in stock.
The salmon was delicious though – in combination with the foam and the vegetables, it really made for a great dish. The service was attentive and friendly – just not that swift in taking up my order. All in all, the DOX remains a good place to visit to have dinner.
