Not worth visiting: Restaurant Café Central (16. November 2018)
Upon walking by a couple of restaurants in the Lange Reihe which all seemed to be booked out, I finally decided to get into Café Central. Frankly, not the smartest of all choices but anyways. There was an amuse bouche which is nice as an idea. The fact that it was “cold risotto with a slice of carrot” shows the appreciation of the guest, in my opinion.
The “fresh papardelle, beef filet stripes with homemade beef broth, chanterelles and pinenuts” (EUR 21.50) weren’t all too bad. The meat was fine, the papardelle good. However, they were not cooked al dente, the chanterelles were completely missing, and last but not least, the whole dish was rather oily.
The atmosphere is nice if the service was only attentive – which it isn’t really. I mean, sure, you’re eventually served but I must say that the looks of the place do not really match the quality of the experience. Worth going? Nope, not really!
