Always a good choice for the food but under-performing service: Restaurant DOX @ Hyatt Regency Düsseldorf (26. November 2018)

| May 2, 2019 | 0 Comments

Once more it was time to enjoy a lovely dinner at the DOX in the Hyatt Regency Düsseldorf. What wasn’t so lovely though was the service as they were very slow and not really attentive today. However, I went for the “baked free range egg, porcini risotto, pumpkin seeds pesto and cress” (EUR 16.00). The risotto was actually very tasty and especially in combination with the free range egg on top, it really made for a good dish.

What I liked a lot – again – was the “flank steak from the US prime beef (250gr)” (EUR 33.00) with the “Sauce Béarnaise” (EUR 4.00) and the “herb salad” (EUR 6.00). However, considering you pay a total of EUR 43.00 for the set, I think it’s kind of at the upper end of the acceptable. The only other thing which was displeasing was the fact that the meat was slightly burned. Given we had to wait more than 30 minutes between the starter and the main – which I consider too long – and left me super hungry, I did not complain but usually I’d send it back.

The place is still nice in terms of atmosphere and you feel comfortable pretty much right away (as you should). The service is usually way better but today they somehow did not live up to their usual level of performance. While we only have had one bottle of sparkling water (0,75l San Pellegrino, EUR 11.00), there were two on the bill. Once we asked for it to be corrected, it took them kind of ages to finally adjust/ bring the new bill. And somehow, they just didn’t do it so right today. Pity! Food is still recommendable but definitely not on the cheap side.
